Apparently Life's a GAME

Recently at a LA night club the rapper Game dumped a $1400 bottle of champagne and said "You know what I call that? Feeding the roaches. Good thing, too ... because carrying an open container in public is a ticketable offense in L.A." You ask how is this related to the novel Oryx and Crake, well there is no crazy connection except for the development of a two class society. I am a huge fan of The Game and I think his antics are kind of amusing, but I feel this connects because there are not many people who can spend that kind of money so there is definitely a case of two class society. Also it connects because he defying government, corporations and the social norm, but i think the ticketable offense comment was a subliminal shot at the police based on the rappers history of being in gangs. But i felt this ties in because of Atwood's concern about the 2 class society and this does not help the cause. But an argument could be made that Game is an activist who is "sticking it to the man" by making a public scene and insulting the police force. But however you look at it you can not escape the fact there is definitely an issue of a two class society.

  1. But shouldn't The Game who is part of the upper class be a role model for those in the lower class aspiring to be one day something similar to him?

  4. Yeah I think he did it as an insult to the government, because he supports his child and is a good parent, he donates to local fund raisers to help out the community his child grows up in, i just think he has a problem with authority.
